ASTEN Conference 2023
The 2023 conference will be hosted by Questacon in Canberra ACT,
12 & 13 October.
The time has finally arrived to grab your ticket to the 2023 ASTEN Conference – taking place at Questacon in Parkes ACT, 12-13 October 2023.
This year the conference theme will be Creating a better world? Science engagement shaping the conversation. The conference is an opportunity for us all to come together and share what we have been doing, learn from each other, and drive the conversation of where our sector goes next!
Call for presentations
Whether by lightning talks or through panels and plenaries, there is the opportunity to share activity big and small, and learn from each other at this years conference.
Last year, we heard your feedback that it is hard to commit to a presentation when you are not sure if you will be buying tickets, and its hard to buy tickets before you know what the presentations will be. As such, this year we are offering early bird tickets through until Monday 11 September at 12:00pm AEST. We try to keep ticket costs low, with ticket proceeds going towards supporting Fellowship recipients and so we are offering a $50 AUD discount for registering early.
We recognise the value of connecting with other members across the Network and are ensuring the event has the social elements an ASTEN meetup should, so included in your ticket price will be some evening activities to provide a space for those valuable conversations on the Wednesday evening before the conference opens, and the Thursday evening after day one closes. In addition to having the change to explore Questacon at night, there may also be a boutique Questacon 'Science of Whiskey' activity or might be mocktails under the Moon...Details to come

Not sure if you can afford the trip?
We will be offering Travel Fellowships to support ASTEN members conference attendance, travel and accommodation costs - in return for some assistance in volunteer activity during the conference.
Travel fellowships available will be between $1000-2000 with a free conference ticket, and we will be prioritising New Zealand and regional and remote members from Australia. Please note: for Australian fellowships will be a reimbursement upon receiving receipts, for international fellowships (including NZ) it will be an upfront payment to support the cost of international flights.
We are welcoming applications for fellowships until Monday 4 September.
